Chapter 11 response

 A visual technology that is traditional that I would use in a class room are posters. Posters get students to use their creative sides and are a fun way to see the information that you are teaching them.

A visual technology that is an emerging technology is clipart / photo galleries on the internet or CD’s. Pictures are always helpful tools for students to use to help understand the information better.

An audio technology that’s traditional is a tape recorder. These are handy for a student to have to reply the lesson taught during class especially if the student is an audio learner.

An audio technology that is emerging is an iPod. iPods are extremely helpful for students to get all kinds of information whether it be from the internet (an educational sight) or educational apps that have been downloaded.

Chapter 6

I would prefer to teach in a classroom that had/has more digital technologies. This is because I feel the students would understand the lesson in a different way than they normally would if I were just giving notes off of an overhead or white board, etc. Also, if there is a student that is hard of hearing or it’s a large size classroom microphones would be a useful technology to have. Electronic whiteboards, smart boards, promethean boards, etc. are helpful in a classroom because they allow you to save whatever you are showing the class. Also, they are good for giving notes on or showing the class a website, etc. Other forms of technology that I would find useful in my classroom as a special education teacher are iPads and iPods because of the variety of applications that are available for use. Many of the apps are educational!

My name is Emily Skarsten. I am a freshman at Bowling Green State University. I am studying to become a special education teacher (mild/moderate). I am very excited to get my degree in a "few" more years and get out in the field! I'm from Pickerington, OH which is a suburb of Columbus.  I am 1 of 8 children, we are all adopted from different parts of the world. I am the second oldest and the first one to go away for school. I enjoy singing and hanging out with my friends. I love to make people laugh and always enjoy putting a smile on someone's face.
